1984 Toyota Pickup Truck 84K Orig Mi 4WD 1-Owner 22R

Here is a former California show truck with no rust - Very Clean and only 84K original miles! The legendary 4-Cyl 2.4 Liter 22R engine is all stock with a 5 speed transmission (shifts smooth), 4-Wheel Drive (rarely used) never off road, roll bar (not pictured but comes with the truck), power brakes, and sliding rear window. Original paint! No Accidents (a few dings and dimples).

Clean interior, original carpet (a couple of holes were cut in for the roll bar), bench seat,
reupholstered door panels, camper shell (see photos not on the truck), carpet kit.
Garage Kept (most the time), regular oil changes, just passed smog (have Cert. for Ca.).

By chance I found some parts for my 81 SR5 project truck which lead me to a junk yard not more than 1 hour from home. I really thought all of the 79-83 Toyotas were gone from Michigan. The price of salvage steel peaked last summer and it’s just too tempting for yard owners to crush anything over a few years old. To my surprise someone lead me to this yard which had 2 SR5 Toyotas still in it; an 82 with less than 57k miles and this 81 which rusted and had been beat beyond any usefulness. Now to my advantage I decided to buy the engine/trans from the 82 for my project(s). But as I looked at the 81 I could only think about what a nice truck it was at one time. A nice white 81 with the silver SR5 stripes. A “factory” pushbar was added to the front. It’s white spoke SR5 wheels are gone leaving the truck to rust into the muddy ground. Inside would have been a tan interior with SR5 bucket seats, a woodgrain dash, tan carpet and back cab cover. This SR5 used to have a tach and an oil and amp gauge in a pod under the radio. The first 22R engines were made in 81 with a 5 speed trans standard in SR5 trucks. This truck would have gotten close to 25 mpg and cost about $10-12k new. Seems a world apart from the way things are now…  This truck is gone forever, but I can still remember - “What a feeling” it was to drive a Toyota.

Up for sale on Ebay is a Toyota show truck that the seller built himself many years ago. Its been in storage for about 10 years. It needs very little in the way of repairs but could use a little TLC as in the way of a couple of marker light lenses have cracked over the years and it could use a complete service and minor cleaning and such. The engine is a Buick Regal T type Turbo engine. It was completely rebuilt with forged pistons and a top of the line valve train of the time when it was installed. The turbo was replaced with a 471 blower. The engine has maybe three thousand miles on it and runs AWSOME! The transmission has been also gone through and a shift kit installed with a high stall converter installed. The hood is hydraulic, the bed is hydraulic and the GULL WING doors are operated from the inside as well as the outside. The suspension is a 3inch lift from Downey, with axle trusses and dual shocks all around and kicker shocks. The exhaust is a custom polished stainless steel system topped off with stainless Super trapp mufflers. JUST TO MUCH TO LIST!!!! This truck has many BEST OF SHOW TROPHYS and always drew a crowd.
